Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to apply jurisdictional bushfire regulatory requirements to assess development and subdivision applications. The outcome of an assessment will typically be included as a report with the statutory planning application. The unit applies to individuals who are paraprofessional workers and have technical and theoretical knowledge of bushfire impact on property developments. They demonstrate autonomy, judgement and responsibility in a range of contexts within broad but established parameters. They possess communication and analytical skills to determine and transmit solutions to complex problems.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Access and prepare resources to support statutory planning application.
- 1.1 Discuss and clarify proposed development with client.
- 1.2 Review jurisdictional planning application process and regulations for proposed statutory planning application.
- 1.3 Access and interpret maps and plans and locate proposed development site.
- 1.4 Visit site and identify and assess constraints impacting compliance with bushfire regulatory requirements.
2 Review proposed development against bushfire and planning requirements.
- 2.1 Interpret regulatory requirements governing proposed development in bushfire prone areas.
- 2.2 Review key bushfire compliance requirements to identify opportunities and constraints affecting proposed development.
- 2.3 Review supplementary environmental reports to identify opportunities and constraints for compliance with bushfire regulatory requirements.
3 Develop options for planning application to achieve compliance.
- 3.1 Analyse options for compliance with bushfire regulatory requirements.
- 3.2 Select options for compliance best suited to proposed development.
- 3.3 Discuss options for compliance with client and seek feedback.
- 3.4 Review and respond to client feedback and finalise proposal to meet bushfire regulatory requirements.
4 Prepare report for client.
- 4.1 Identify submission requirements for statutory planning application.
- 4.2 Prepare spatial representation of potential impact of bushfire to support submission.
- 4.3 Prepare report that demonstrates compliance with regulatory requirements for development in bushfire prone areas.
