Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct explosive ordnance test and evaluation processes.It includes identifying test requirements, determining test and evaluation methodology, developing and finalising test and evaluation plans, determining post-trial report structure, drafting reports, and preparing and distributing a final report.This unit applies to Defence explosive ordnance test and evaluation supervisors, managers and team leaders but is applicable to any individuals who work in this field.This unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which the work is undertaken. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Those undertaking this unit would work independently or as part of a team under direct and indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement and take responsibility for the quality of their output. They would perform complex tasks in a range of contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Apply knowledge of explosive ordnance testing and evaluation processes
  • 1.1 Analyse and review different testing and evaluation types within the explosive ordnance environment
  • 1.2 Explain the tests conducted on or with explosive ordnance
  • 1.3 Explain the relevant legislative or certification requirements that apply to the test and evaluation of explosive ordnance
  • 1.4 Explain how to categorise explosive substances and/or articles
2. Develop explosive ordnance test and evaluation plans
  • 2.1 Identify explosive ordnance test and evaluation requirements and complete resources scoping activities
  • 2.2 Define aims, objectives, capability baseline and impacts in test plan and timeframes
  • 2.3 Consult relevant specialists to determine test conditions, environmental constraints, evidence requirements, potential risks, and monitoring of key performance indicators
  • 2.4 Clarify and agree skills, roles and responsibilities of team members and stakeholders, and identify reporting requirements
  • 2.5 Determine preferred test and evaluation options that best fit organisational requirements
  • 2.6 Develop explosive ordnance customer test and evaluation plan
  • 2.7 Seek and obtain relevant approvals in accordance with legislative or certification requirements
3. Prepare to implement explosive ordnance test and evaluation plan
  • 3.1 Identify requirements for data management, analysis, tools, and storage
  • 3.2 Define test safety requirements
  • 3.3 Promulgate and maintain test and evaluation plans and test plan approvals
4. Conduct explosive ordnance test and evaluation processes
  • 4.1 Conduct explosive ordnance test and evaluation in accordance with approved plan
  • 4.2 Monitor explosive ordnance test and evaluation plan and amend as required based on changing circumstances
  • 4.3 Record test outcomes and observations in accordance with original test scope and parameters

  • 5.1 Collate, interpret, and summarise data and information to prepare content that satisfies report purposes and objectives in accordance with original test scope and parameters
