Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) or the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) for the certification of aeronautical product maintenance tasks that require such certification following completion of scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Work may be performed individually or as part of a team.The maintenance organisation standards required for the repair, overhaul or modification of the item of aeronautical product being certified for return to service also apply to this unit.The unit is used in workplaces that operate under the airworthiness regulatory systems of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and the Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA).Any other relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Determine status of aeronautical products and eligibility of assessor
  • 1.1 Establish status of aircraft components and component parts in accordance with maintenance documentation
  • 1.2 Confirm assessor’s eligibility to certify maintenance activity completion
2. Comply with airworthiness regulations in certifying aeronautical products for return to service
  • 2.1 Release item of aeronautical product to service in accordance with authorised enterprise procedures
  • 2.2 Raise and compile required maintenance documentation
  • 2.3 Apply configuration management (CM) procedures in accordance with authorised enterprise procedures
  • 2.4 Compile and process maintenance-related reports in accordance with authorised enterprise procedures
  • 2.5 Perform both oral and written required technical communication activities in accordance with authorised enterprise procedures
