Description
The unit involves the skills and knowledge required to plan and deliver Just in Time (JIT) logistics.It includes planning, delivering and monitoring the JIT system.This unit applies to experienced workers who work with JIT systems.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan the JIT system and contingencies
- 1.1 Supply chain stakeholders are consulted to identify inventory demand and supply and develop delivery schedules
- 1.2 Appropriate communication protocols are planned and agreed between all relevant stakeholders
- 1.3 Lead time for each freight item is determined to ensure on-time delivery according to customer requirements
- 1.4 Delivery procedures to deliver JIT are drafted and updated in accordance with workplace procedures
- 1.5 Hazards are identified, risks are assessed, including chain of responsibility, and control measures are proposed for the JIT system
- 1.6 Develop a contingency plan with stakeholders to address issues arising in delivery requirements
- 1.7 JIT implementation plan is developed in accordance with workplace procedures
2 Apply the JIT system
- 2.1 Delivery of freight is in accordance with delivery schedules, including in full on time in specification (IFOTIS)
- 2.2 Appropriate delivery vehicle is selected according to chain of responsibility obligations, freight type and site delivery requirements
- 2.3 Communication with stakeholders regarding instances when the delivery will be outside delivery specifications is maintained
- 2.4 Site freight management plan is applied
- 2.5 Documentation is completed accurately and provided to stakeholder upon delivery
3 Monitor the JIT system
- 3.1 Condition of delivered freight is monitored for damage or defects and reported to relevant personnel
- 3.2 Delivery schedules are monitored and investigated in accordance with workplace procedures and IFOTIS
- 3.3 Stakeholders are liaised with regularly and areas for improvement are identified and implemented
- 3.4 Performance reports are provided to stakeholders, including IFOTIS
