Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required coordinate operational strategies to achieve short and long-term goals of a power generation facility's production plant.An operational plan describes how a power generation facility will use their resources within specified time frames. Operational strategiesare the methods used to reach objectives and performance targets related to the power generation facility's operationalplan.Competency in this unit requires the ability to coordinate the implementation of operational strategies, monitor strategiesand report on performance against strategies. Individuals will, in general, work as a coordinator in operational management, in a power generation facility.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Note: Workplace practiceThe application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations. Additional conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements.

1 Coordinate implementation of operational strategies
  • 1.1 Power generating plant operational plan and strategies are identified and implemented, in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.2 Power generating plant operations and/or condition is monitored and reported on, in accordance with workplace procedures and legislative requirements
  • 1.3 Resources and supplies are coordinated to meet operational plan and strategy requirements, in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.4 Authorising personnel are informed about implementation strategies, in accordance with workplace procedures
2 Monitor strategies
  • 2.1 Deviations from operational plan and strategies are identified and recorded, in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 2.2 Impact on operational strategies are identified and reviewed, in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 2.3 Operational strategies are monitored, in accordance with workplace procedures, legislative requirements and industry standards
3 Report performance against strategies
  • 3.1 Data is collected on operational strategy implementation and is processed for review, in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.2 Abnormal conditions that impact operational strategy implementation are reported, in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Changes to operational strategies are documented and referred to appropriate personnel, in accordance with workplace procedures
