Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to implement and coordinate a groundwater plan.It includes coordinating and monitoring the management plan to use groundwater as a resource for water supply. It also includes applying, consulting and adhering to legislation, regulations and organisational policies This unit applies to leaders with responsibility for the management of groundwater resources. Those undertaking this unit would work autonomously and lead staff, while performing sophisticated tasks in a range of familiar contexts. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.

1 Plan for groundwater management
  • 1.1 Confirm performance measures for the groundwater management plan
  • 1.2 Identify and interpret legislative requirements and organisational policies for the management of groundwater
  • 1.3 Identify stakeholder requirements impacting on the groundwater quality, quantity and conservation
  • 1.4 Gather historical groundwater information and evaluate as input to the planning process
  • 1.5 Identify, interpret and assess water quality and quantity requirements
  • 1.6 Identify and interpret environmental and developmental factors impacting groundwater
2 Implement the groundwater management plan
  • 2.1 Communicate the groundwater management plan to relevant personnel and stakeholders according to regulations and workplace procedures
  • 2.2 Develop management plan components and activities for implementation
  • 2.3 Coordinate groundwater plan activities and determine responsibilities and timelines for implementation activities
3 Monitor and review the groundwater management plan
  • 3.1 Design and implement monitoring and testing programs for groundwater usage and quality according to the groundwater plan
  • 3.2 Analyse, interpret and record test results according to workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Identify and investigate current and potential problems and report results and recommendations
  • 3.4 Evaluate objectives and performance of the groundwater plan and report deviations from target values
  • 3.5 Report investigation results and make recommendations according to workplace procedures
  • 3.6 Identify, investigate and report deviations of planned groundwater usage quality from plan objectives
  • 3.7 Review objectives of the groundwater management and implementation plans
