This unit describes the performance outcomes required to prepare and process automotive materials and components for production.It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a production worker level.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

  • 1.1 Work instructions and job requirements are identified and confirmed
  • 1.2 Materials and components are identified and selected
2. Prepare and inspect materials and components
  • 2.1 Materials and components are visually inspected to ensure specifications and quality standards are met
  • 2.2 Defective materials and components are identified, tagged and isolated according to workplace procedures
  • 2.3 Materials are prepared, loaded, lined up and secured according to work instructions and workplace procedures
3. Process materials and components
  • 3.1 Materials and components are processed according to workplace instructions, procedures and work health and safety (WHS) requirements using recommended production sequences and tools and equipment
  • 3.2 Quality control methods and measures are identified and applied
  • 3.3 Materials and components are finished to workplace quality standards and specifications
  • 3.4 Work sheets and production documents are completed according to workplace procedures
