This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to integrate conceptual, technical and organisational skills to create a coherent body of work in any creative form.The unit applies to individuals who are developing their professional practice, and who convey a well developed command of materials, process and technique, and strong conceptual and theoretical development in their completed work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Develop ideas for body of creative work
  • 1.1 Research different information sources for new ideas for creative work
  • 1.2 Identify copyright and intellectual property requirements related to self-promotion
  • 1.3 Identify ideas and options for creative work in line with professional standards
  • 1.4 Refine own ideas in consultation with required personnel
  • 1.5 Evaluate and select ideas based on research, analysis and intended purpose
2. Plan and organise production of creative work
  • 2.1 Identify scope, objectives and timeline of work based on creative work requirements
  • 2.2 Determine and organise required resources using knowledge of creative practice
  • 2.3 Evaluate and respond to project constraints
  • 2.4 Identify and set up required work space
3. Develop own approach to documenting body of work
  • 3.1 Evaluate options for documenting work, ideas and research
  • 3.2 Determine type and amount of required information
  • 3.3 Select own approach and presentation style
  • 3.4 Document work production from initial ideas to realisation
4. Collaborate with others in producing work
  • 4.1 Seek critical analysis of own work from required personnel
  • 4.2 Respond to feedback and discuss new ideas
  • 4.3 Experiment with new ideas from discussion
5. Create finished work
  • 5.1 Create work using selected and adapted materials, processes and technologies
  • 5.2 Challenge and test technical and conceptual aspects of work
  • 5.3 Review work in progress against artistic objectives
  • 5.4 Identify and respond to opportunities for refinement
  • 5.5 Finish work to professional standard within required budget and timeframes
6. Evaluate own creative work
