This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge to manage aviation resources, and coordinate flight and ground based services to support aerial operations missions conducted as part of an incident response. It includes delivering services within an organisational regulatory framework, assisting with planning for air operations as part of the incident action plan, activating and managing aircraft, overseeing management of support personnel and contractors, establishing and managing facilities and consumables to support aerial operations, planning and managing flight schedules and pilot services, managing air base accident response, ensuring the air base has safety and security systems in place and ensuring record keeping systems are in place.The unit is applicable to aircraft officers managing aviation resources within complex incident response operational environments. Authorisation to perform this role is subject to agency policies and procedures.The fire sector is those sections of government departments, statutory authorities or agencies that have responsibility under jurisdictional arrangements for the delivery of firefighting and fire management services.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
