Description
This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to check and weigh loads and direct trucks for unloading waste paper, in a pulp and paper manufacturing facility. The unit applies to production support operators who check and receive waste paper loads. This typically involves working in a facility with complex integrated equipment and continuous operations.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit but may differ according to state or territory jurisdiction. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Check, weigh and record load data
  • 1.1. Check and accept loads of waste paper, according to order and within productivity requirements and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.
  • 1.2. Estimate weight and calculate the volumes of loads.
  • 1.3. Handle non conforming loads.
  • 1.4. Confirm delivery record with truck driver.
2. Unload trucks
  • 2.1. Direct trucks to appropriate unloading area according to load grade and equipment availability.
  • 2.2. Notify yard personnel of deliveries requiring unloading.
  • 2.3. Monitor truck movements in the yard according to safe working requirements.
  • 2.4. Remove load from trucks according to safe work practices.
3. Finalise documentation
  • 3.1. Check and complete documentation, according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • 3.2. Communicate load requirements to appropriate personnel in accordance with operational requirements.
