This unit covers the skills and knowledge to conduct support tasks to assist in the production of garments or other associated articles.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare work pieces and workstation
  • 1.1 Workbench and seating are set up according to OHSpractices.
  • 1.2 Work requirements are identified and clarified as required.
  • 1.3 Work pieces are prepared.
2 Perform hand sewing tasks
  • 2.1 Hand sewing tasks are conducted according to workplace standards.
  • 2.2 Work is submitted to supervisor for quality checking.
3 Perform finishing tasks
  • 3.1 Finishing tasks are performed according to workplace direction.
  • 3.2 Work is checked for compliance with quality standards and job specifications.
  • 3.3 Work is submitted for final quality checking.
4 Despatch completed work
  • 4.1 Any identified faults are corrected.
  • 4.2 Completed products are directed to next operation.
