Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage camping procedures for coaches, buses and other relevant tourism vehicles, in accordance with relevant regulations, workplace procedures and permit requirements for camping activities conducted across a variety of tour operation contexts. It includes preparing for a camping tour, overseeing establishment of a camp site, and supervising vacation of a camp site.Work is performed with limited or minimum supervision, and with limited accountability and responsibility for self and others in achieving the prescribed outcomes.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare for camping tour
  • 1.1 Camping equipment requirements are identified and obtained
  • 1.2 All equipment is checked for serviceability and damage prior to tour commencement
  • 1.3 Damaged items are repaired or replaced in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.4 Consumables required for tour are determined and obtained in accordance with workplace procedures prior to tour commencement
2 Oversee camp site establishment
  • 2.1 Camp site hazards are identified and required action is taken to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards
  • 2.2 Suitable, level camp site is selected
  • 2.3 Unloading of equipment, and erecting and commissioning camping equipment is supervised
  • 2.4 Appropriate arrangements are made with host/cook for meals and other services during camping activity
  • 2.5 Participants are advised of health and safety requirements and precautions including safe use of fires
3 Vacate camp site
  • 3.1 Procedures for vacating campsite are supervised in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.2 Camp site is inspected for cleanliness and misplaced equipment in accordance with regulations and workplace procedures
