Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to conduct trials in an explosive ordnance research environment.Explosive ordnance trials are normally conducted to select new weapons systems or explosive ordnance for introduction into the Australian Defence Force.It includes preparing for and conducting explosive ordnance trials and reporting on trial results.This unit applies to persons who are required to prepare and conduct trials in an explosive ordnance research environment.Trials are a common component of explosive ordnance research and involve a large number of personnel both in their planning and implementation. Persons however, may not necessarily be involved in both planning and implementing the research. It is common that persons involved in the implementation phase of the trials are not involved in the planning phase. In other instances, persons may be involved with both the planning phase and the implementation phase of the trial.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare for explosive ordnance trial
  • 1.1 Obtain and confirm information about resource requirements and availability in accordance with organisational procedures
  • 1.2 Prepare information support systems for explosive ordnance trial including achievable reporting and recording processes, in accordance with resource requirements
  • 1.3 Negotiate and resolve coordination issues with others affected by explosive ordnance trial
  • 1.4 Identify and observe health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) principles and requirements throughout the trial process work
2 Conduct explosive ordnance trial
  • 2.1 Identify and liaise with explosive ordnance trial planners in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 2.2 Implement, monitor and amend explosive ordnance trial plan based on changing circumstances, in accordance with methodologies and organisational procedures
  • 2.3 Allocate resources to trial tasks in accordance with plan and available resources
  • 2.4 Record data being generated by trial in accordance with agreed methodology and organisational procedures
3 Report on explosive ordnance trial results
  • 3.1 Collect and report data generated by explosive ordnance trial in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 3.2 Provide options and recommendations resulting from explosive ordnance trial in a clear and comprehensive format
  • 3.3 Produce and maintain post-trial reports, statistical reports and other records in accordance with requirements and organisational procedures
