Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge to use specialised machinery to assist in assembly production and completion of garments and other associated items.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare work pieces and workstation
  • 1.1 Work pieces or materials are laid out in sequence according to specifications.
  • 1.2 Workbench and seating are set up according to OHSpractices.
  • 1.3 Equipment is set up and adjusted in accordance to specifications for work.
  • 1.4 Routine minor maintenance is performed according to manufacturer specifications.
  • 1.5 Any problems are reported and recorded.
2 Perform production tasks
  • 2.1 Production tasks are performed.
  • 2.2 OHS practices are followed.
  • 2.3 Work is assessed for compliance with quality standards and production specifications.
  • 2.4 Where specialised machine is used, machine is checked and adjusted to ensure optimum performance.
3 Despatch completed work
  • 3.1 Garments or articles are checked against quality standards.
  • 3.2 Any faults identified are reported and recorded.
  • 3.3 Completed garments or articles are directed to next operation.
  • 3.4 Work documentation is completed as required.
