This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to evaluate and approve edits to ensure integrity of screen productions. It involves providing post-production briefs to editors and monitoring post-production editing activities.The unit applies to those who are responsible for communicating the overall creative vision and style for edits. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare postproduction briefs
- 1.1 Organise and participate in meetings with required personnel and confirm post-production requirements
- 1.2 Establish creative and technical criteria for edits in collaboration with required personnel
- 1.3 Establish post-production schedules according to production requirements
- 1.4 Confirm editors have access to required editing materials that meet production requirements
- 1.5 Identify potential post-production issues and establish contingency plans in consultation with required personnel
2. Monitor and evaluate editing activity
- 2.1 Monitor and resolve post-production issues in collaboration with editors and maximise their input to achieving final outcomes
- 2.2 Evaluate each stage of editing process in collaboration with required personnel and adjust according to production requirements
- 2.3 Evaluate all aspects of editing process from director’s perspective, including own performance, and note areas for future improvement
- 2.4 Provide feedback to production personnel and invite comment on post-production process
