Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to participate in cargo drop zone operations, to assist with setting up a cargo drop zone capable of receiving containers and/or platform airdrop loads, and to assist with clearing a cargo drop zone.It includes assisting in clearing and setting up a cargo drop zone.This unit applies to persons working in an air logistics environment, in tactical and non-tactical contexts.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit work in a broad range of contexts under supervision and as part of a team, and perform specific tasks.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Participate in cargo operations to set up a cargo drop zone
  • 1.1 Recover parachutes in accordance with organisational procedures
  • 1.2 Close the drop zone
  • 1.3 Observe deployment sequence and impact of load onto drop zone
  • 1.4 Recover airdropped loads in accordance with organisational procedures
2 Assist in setting up a cargo drop zone
  • 2.1 Establish readiness of drop zone using code identifiers, in accordance with organisational protocols
  • 2.2 Undertake risk assessment of drop zone and implement relevant risk control measures as required
  • 2.3 Set up markers or signal devices in accordance with operational procedures
  • 2.4 Select a suitable area for type of airdrop to meet operational requirements
