Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to organise and perform the rapid analysis of information in order to determine its situational value.It includes organising and interpreting data into information to assess and report situational value outcomes in an intelligence environment.This unit applies to Defence personnel working in electronic warfare and signals intelligence fields but may be applicable to any persons working in a similar role.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Typically, persons undertaking this unit work independently with indirect supervision, and perform complex tasks in unfamiliar contexts, with a high level of analysis and risk assessment required.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

  • 1.2 Collate situational data and prepare information in a format suitable for analysis in accordance with task requirements
2 Analyse and interpret information
  • 2.1 Select reliable and suitable methods of information analysis to determine situational value
  • 2.2 Examine data, comparing and evaluating information for content and situational value in accordance with task requirements and operational procedures
  • 2.3 Make rational assessments of situational value that are justified and supported by evidence
  • 2.4 Record analysed information in accordance with organisational procedures
3 Report outcomes
  • 3.1 Report situational value assessment determination to relevant personnel in accordance with organisational procedures
  • 3.2 Maintain and report information from data repositories
