Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate the development and implementation of workplace improvement strategies related to work, health and safety (WHS) legislation.Those undertaking this unit work independently, performing complex tasks in a range of familiar contexts, facilitating improvement to workplaces to ensure compliance with legislation.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Facilitate development of work health and safety improvement strategies.
  • 1.1. Access and use current information about enabling legislation to maintain up-to-date knowledge of enabling legislation and regulation requirements.
  • 1.2. Identify jurisdictional policies and procedures that are relevant to the education and facilitation of stakeholders.
  • 1.3. Identify stakeholders to assist in the facilitation of workplace improvements.
  • 1.4. Explain to the workplace the limitations of own and WHS regulator role.
2. Facilitate implementation of work health and safety improvements.
  • 2.1. Facilitate processes for improving workplace legislative compliance in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • 2.2. Develop, in consultation with stakeholders, timelines and responsibilities for improving legislative compliance.
  • 2.3. Provide documented advice to stakeholders on the requirements for effective workplace improvements.
  • 2.4. Provide guidance and support to assist implementation of WHS improvements.
3. Review effectiveness of workplace improvements.
  • 3.1. Monitor outcomes of workplace improvements.
  • 3.2. Report on outcomes of monitoring to stakeholders in accordance with jurisdictional policies and procedures.
  • 3.3. Provide feedback to stakeholders on the effectiveness of workplace improvement strategies.
