Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to conduct outburst mining operations
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply outburst mining operations, documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear appropriate personal protective equipment and protective clothing
  • 1.5 Access, interpret and apply mine environmental, geological and survey data required to complete the allocated work
  • 1.6 Identify and confirm outburst manning requirements in accordance with the outburst management plan
  • 1.7 Carry out outburst pre-operational checks
  • 1.8 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
2. Conduct mining operations in outburst conditions in accordance with outburst management plan
  • 2.1 Communicate and coordinate activities with others throughout the work activity
  • 2.2 Operate continuous miner and/or shuttle car
  • 2.3 Carry out strata control operations
  • 2.4 Maintain ventilation, monitor environmental conditions and take action where required
  • 2.5 Continually monitor hazards and risks , and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment
  • 2.6 Complete and maintain records and reports
3. Carry out operator maintenance on outburst equipment
  • 3.1 Prepare machine/equipment for maintenance
  • 3.2 Conduct inspection and fault finding
  • 3.3 Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks
  • 3.4 Carry out housekeeping activities
  • 3.5 Process written maintenance records
