Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake supply support in integrated logistics. This unit covers conducting supply support analysis; producing and maintaining supply support data, documentation and reporting; sourcing, managing and controlling items of supply; and analysing the performance of the supply support network.This unit is appropriate for technical specialists supporting integrated logistics functions. Typically, these individuals must demonstrate the ability to work independently or as part of a team under direct and/or indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs. All activities are carried out in accordance with relevant policy and procedures.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Conduct supply support analysis
  • 1.1 Organisational policies for procurement and supply chain are interpreted for each identified item of supply (IoS) class
  • 1.2 Resources required to enable supply services to be conducted are identified from consultation with the integrated logistics support (ILS) team
  • 1.3 Stakeholders are identified and consulted to confirm ILS needs for each IoS
  • 1.4 Analysis is conducted to determine quantities of each IoS to be held at each location across the support network
  • 1.5 Support network is analysed to determine packaging, handling, storage and transportation (PHS&T) requirements, volumetrics and other storage conditions and liabilities
  • 1.6 Standardisation opportunities are identified, and advice provided to engineering support
  • 1.7 Entitlements for use and/or consumption of each IoS are determined
  • 1.8 Verification and validation of supply support arrangements is completed to confirm they satisfy maintenance policies and regimes
2 Produce supply support data, documentation and reporting
  • 2.1 Data and documentation requirements for each IoS are determined in accordance with organisational policies
  • 2.2 Sources of information relevant to supply support are identified and relevant information is obtained in accordance with policies and procedures
  • 2.3 Provisioning technical documentation is developed, including assemblies parts lists and outfit allowance lists
  • 2.4 Data is obtained, and codification and cataloguing conducted for each IoS in accordance with organisational policy
  • 2.5 Details are identified, analysed and documented for each IoS in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • 2.6 Logistics information management systems are populated with IoS and related management data
  • 2.7 Required item quantities are identified, analysed and documented
  • 2.8 Stocktake plans and reports are prepared in accordance with organisational policies
  • 2.9 Alignment of supply support data to engineering support data and maintenance support data is maintained
3 Source, manage and control items of supply
  • 3.1 Sourcing of required IoS is planned and conducted in accordance with organisational policies
  • 3.2 Receipt of IoS is conducted in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • 3.3 Distribution of IoS is conducted in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • 3.4 Issuing of IoS is conducted in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • 3.5 Transfer of IoS is conducted in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • 3.6 Disposal activities are planned and conducted in accordance with organisational policies
  • 3.7 Obsolescence of each IoS is planned in accordance with organisational policies
  • 3.8 Rotatable pool management regime is developed to support the usage upkeep cycle
4 Analyse the performance of the supply support network and plan corrective actions
  • 4.1 Analysis of supply network performance is conducted in accordance with organisational policies and results documented
  • 4.2 Corrective actions to improve supply network performance are planned, documented and submitted for approval in accordance with organisational policies
  • 4.3 ILS team are briefed, and approved corrective actions implemented
