Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to prepare and rig platform air-drop loads in support of ground activities.It includes preparing, rigging and completing platform air-drop task.This unit applies to persons working as Defence Aerial Delivery Specialists as part of an aerial delivery crew, often in conjunction with the crew of supporting aircraft, tasked for air-drop operations.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit would work in a range of contexts, under supervision, as part of a team, while performing specific tasks.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication

2 Rig platform air-drop loads
  • 2.1 Construct timber components
  • 2.2 Construct energy dissipating material stacks
  • 2.3 Position aerial delivery equipment
  • 2.4 Weigh, position and rig load items
  • 2.5 Identify and report defective stores and equipment
  • 2.6 Weigh and mark rigged loads
  • 2.7 Position rigged loads in the chalk assembly area
  • 2.8 Select, compile and attach documentation
3 Conclude platform air-drop rigging tasks
  • 3.1 Identify, restore and return unused items of aerial delivery equipment and excess or unused load items
  • 3.2 Identify and report damage to stores or equipment
  • 3.3 Restore hand and power tools
  • 3.4 Refurbish rigging and chalk assembly areas
