This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to coordinate the day-to-day management activities during the build phase, and coding of, an information and communications (ICT) system, according to the design specifications and project plan.It applies to individuals in the software development area who are required to synchronise the coding activities of a new system.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Prepare the work
  • 1.1 Review the specifications and standards for the project
  • 1.2 Review the project documentation for the development environment
  • 1.3 Analyse, and confirm, that the development environment matches the project documentation and meets the standards
  • 1.4 Select the development tools
2. Coordinate the work
  • 2.1 Determine the work units based on the design
  • 2.2 Delegate the work units to the appropriate developers
  • 2.3 Brief the developers on standards, procedures, schedules and other requirements
  • 2.4 Implement project management techniques to ensure that all tasks are completed on time, and according to standards, and the specification
3. Coordinate the development environment
  • 3.1 Implement and test the changes to the development environment, and document the outcomes
  • 3.2 Update the project documentation for the development environment
