Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use basic manual assembly techniques in the manufacture or service and repair of recreational vehicles.The person completes routine tasks assigned to them under close supervision and guidance. They report routine and non-routine problems to their supervisor and are responsible for the quality of their output.The unit does not include the use of large or complex machinery or equipment.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for the task
- 1.1 Identify assembly requirements from job instructions
- 1.2 Confirm task and quality requirements with the supervisor
- 1.3 Locate all required tools, check they are safe and functional and ready to use, and report faults to the supervisor
- 1.4 Gather materials and items required by job specifications, and check they meet quality requirements and are ready for installation
- 1.5 Identify hazards and hazard controls including the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe handling techniques
2. Assemble components
- 2.1 Identify the correct order in which to assemble the components from assembly instructions
- 2.2 Prepare surfaces ready for assembly by cleaning, making penetrations and applying adhesives according to job instructions and quality requirements
- 2.3 Place, align, clamp/hold, fasten and complete fitting the components to meet task and quality requirements
- 2.4 Check the finished assembly according to job instructions and quality requirements and rectify any deficiencies
- 2.5 Store the assembly according to workplace procedures
3. Complete the tasks according to workplace procedures
- 3.1 Clean up the recreational vehicle in readiness for the next task
- 3.2 Clean up the work area, identify items for recycling and dispose of waste
- 3.3 Identify, tag and report any damage to equipment and tools
- 3.4 Check, clean and do routine maintenance on equipment and tools and store them and unused materials
- 3.5 Complete task outcome documentation
