This unit describes the skills required to undertake assessments of vehicles in relation to their access to the road network and to provide approvals and permits allowed under specific sections of legislation. It includes providing access to information, assessing and approving applications and issuing or refusing permits. Providing approvals, conditions and permits for individuals and transport companies to access certain routes.This unit applies to those working in road transport regulatory roles requiring detailed knowledge of gazetted routes and vehicle compliance requirements to be able to assess access applications and provide information on the feasibility and requirements of proposed routes. The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Those undertaking this unit would work independently in consultation with others, performing routine tasks in a range of familiar contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.
