Assessment must be carried out in a manner that recognises the cultural and literacy requirements of the assessee and is appropriate to the work performed.

Evidence of ability to:
monitor yard capacity to direct cane bins to appropriate yard location
sequence supply of full bins to the weighbridge system to meet cut-to-crush sequence
couple and uncouple cane bins safely to meet required length
liaise with loco and equipment drivers
use communication systems.
Context of and specific resources for assessment
Assessment must occur in a real or simulated workplace where the assessee has access to:
Cane yards and related signalling and control systems
Cane locos (does not include operation)
Relevant codes of practice and industry standards
Bin consignment and trip/cut-to-crush documentation
Operating procedures and related advice on equipment operation
Loaded and empty bins
Personal protective clothing and equipment
Communication systems and equipment
Housekeeping standards and procedures
Workplace information recording systems, requirements and procedures.
Method of assessment
This unit should be assessed together with core units and other units of competency relevant to the function or work role.
Guidance information for assessment
To ensure consistency in one's performance, competency should be demonstrated on more than one occasion over a period of time in order to cover a variety of circumstances, cases and responsibilities, and where possible, over a number of assessment activities.
