Appropriate research to assist in the provision of context may relate to:
cultural/historical context
review of other productions
audience analysis in location for production
social analysis (current or historical)
review of corporate objectives

Format for documentation will vary depending on the production area but may include:
rehearsal scene breakdown
cast list
cast/character/costume/props matrix
'doubling' list
extract lists
quick change lists
scene by scene principles and extras lists
notated score
lighting plots

Underpinning skills and knowledge

Assessment must include evidence of the following knowledge and skills:

format and structure of performance outlines/scripts relevant to the area of work, eg plays, concert outlines, corporate event outline
documentation formats required for information extracted from performance outlines/scripts
broad historical and cultural context for types of productions relevant to the area of work
for research skills needed to enhance understanding and appreciation of production context
literacy skills sufficient to analyse complex outlines/scripts to inform decision-making and planning

knowledge of the format and structure of performance outlines/scripts in the relevant industry context
ability to apply techniques for the analysis and breakdown of a script to inform production planning

Method and context of assessment

The assessment context must provide for:

practical demonstration of skills through the analysis of a script or performance outline and production of accurate documentation on specific production requirements

Assessment may incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of essential underpinning knowledge, and might include:

review of documentation prepared by the candidate from outline/script analysis
discussion with the candidate to assess understanding of the outline/script
presentation of key information extracted from the outline/script
oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of cultural context, different formats relevant to the type of production
review of portfolios of evidence and third party workplace reports of on-the-job performance by the candidate
Assessment methods should closely reflect workplace demands and the needs of particular groups (eg people with disabilities, and people who may have literacy or numeracy difficulties such as speakers of languages other than English, remote communities and those with interrupted schooling).
