Description
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to connect and disconnect reefer refrigeration units in Metalliferous Mining.This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and Industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the unit.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for connect/disconnect reefer refrigeration unit
- 1.1. Access, interpret and apply reefer refrigeration units documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- 1.2. Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- 1.3. Select, and check for faults, equipment/tools for work activities
- 1.4. Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the activity
- 1.5. Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- 1.6. Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
2. Plug/unplug reefer refrigeration units to power source
- 2.1. Plug reefer refrigeration unit to power source
- 2.2. Check operation of reefer refrigeration unit
- 2.3. Identify and report problems with the operation of reefer refrigeration unit
- 2.4. Unplug reefer refrigeration unit and clear cable from unit
3. Attach/detach clip on units
- 3.1. Attach/detach clip on units safely in accordance with relevant code of practice
- 3.2. Confirm connection to container or crib
- 3.3. Identify and report problems with the operations of clip on unit
4. Clean up
- 4.1. Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials
- 4.2. Clean, check, maintain and store tools and equipment
