1. Plan and prepare for the application of the underground emergency preparedness and response systems
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply underground coal mine emergency and preparedness and response system documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • 1.5 Access, interpret and explain the emergency preparedness and response plans
  • 1.6 Identify, interpret and communicate roles and responsibilities, as specified in the emergency preparedness and response plans
  • 1.7 Communicate and coordinate activities with others prior to, during and on completion of the work activity
  • 1.8 Identify, obtain and allocate resources required for the application of the emergency preparedness and response plans
  • 1.9 Identify training needs of individuals, and prepare training plans
2. Apply the emergency preparedness and response plan
  • 2.1 Receive, clarify, confirm and communicate incident information
  • 2.2 Identify, assess and communicate the type and scope of the incident
  • 2.3 Apply and monitor emergency response, evacuation plans and action plans/ procedures
  • 2.4 Apply procedures for monitoring, recording and reporting on emergency incident
  • 2.5 Apply procedures for the collection, analysis and validation of emergency preparedness and response data
  • 2.6 Contribute to the management of the incident
  • 2.7 Identify, locate, obtain and apply emergency equipment to the incident
  • 2.8 Isolate potential sources of danger and put in place warning signs/signals/barriers
  • 2.9 Coordinate and control response to incident
  • 2.10 Communicate incident information
  • 2.11 Participate in audit, debrief and review requirements

3. Apply the emergency preparedness and response routine plan maintenance procedures
