This unit covers the skills and knowledge to develop a textile product range and present the range to the client.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Determine requirements for textile product range
- 1.1 Product development brief is interpreted to determine designrequirements and intended purpose of product range.
- 1.2 Design elements, themes and initial concepts are recognised and analysed
- 1.3 Profile of target market population is analysed to determine particular product requirements and market trends
- 1.4 Styles, colours and types of yarn required are determined
2 Investigate product development factors
- 2.1 Textile design trends are researched and applied to product development
- 2.2 Existing themes are researched and applied to product development
- 2.3 Yarn and material suppliers are sourced and availability, suitability and costing of resources is determined
- 2.4 Supply chains for product range are investigated to provide information about product development, production and sales flows
3 Develop textile product range
- 3.1 Concepts are developed in line with brief to explore design options
- 3.2 Textile product range options are determined
- 3.3 Cost of materials and resources required to produce range are estimated
- 3.4 Labour, overheads and other production costs for proposed range are estimated
- 3.5 Consultations are undertaken with design team to refine product design and range options
- 3.6 Preliminary plans are reviewed and modifications made accordingly
- 3.7 Product range designs are drawn and documentation is completed
4 Present textile product range for approval
- 4.1 Designs for full textile product range are presented to client using a range of presentation tools, and in line with OHS practices
- 4.2 Features, costs and benefits of proposed designs are explained to the client in line with initial design brief
- 4.3 Feedback is received from client and modifications are made accordingly
- 4.4 Product range is reviewed to confirm acceptance of proposed designs
- 4.5 Development process is finalised and relevant documentation is completed
