Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use culturally appropriate practices to access and use information about textile work in the context of a specific Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community. This includes identifying potential business opportunities. The unit applies to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people exploring the potential to commercialise work. Textiles are diverse in nature and may include apparel or non-wearable items. The unit should be customised according to the customs and protocols of the relevant community, including local image use and design protocols and techniques. No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

  • 2.3 Comply with cultural protocols, personal rights, responsibilities and legal obligations when producing cultural textile products
3. Investigate business opportunities for cultural textile products
  • 3.1 Identify individuals and organisations that support the development and distribution of cultural textile products
  • 3.2 Identify opportunities for production and distribution of cultural textile products
