Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to establish production requirements, plan and schedule compost production for commercial scale composting activity. The unit applies to product managers who analyse information and exercise judgement to complete a range of advanced skilled activities and demonstrate deep knowledge in a specific technical area. They have accountability for the work of others and analyse, design and communicate solutions to a range of complex problems.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Establish production requirements
- 1.1 Verify specifications for compost production output with stakeholder
- 1.2 Quantify production requirements according to production output
- 1.3 Determine conditions affecting production requirements stakeholders
- 1.4 Estimate production capacity for site and equipment capability
- 1.5 Prepare a production schedule according to estimates and conditions for production
- 1.6 Develop contingencies for raw material or product supply errors
- 1.7 Document and submit production plan for stakeholder approval
2. Verify operational compliance and resource availability
- 2.1 Identify environmental and workplace health and safety impact of production process
- 2.2 Verify compliance with environmental and health and safety procedures and licences
- 2.3 Confirm availability of work team, machinery and equipment for compost production
3. Schedule production to meet requirement
- 3.1 Calculate batch types and volumes of compost-based products
- 3.2 Obtain laboratory and field test data of compost materials pre- and post-production
- 3.3 Monitor and adjust production schedule according to field and laboratory test results
- 3.4 Release product to customer according to production plan, schedule and workplace procedures
