Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Maintain and develop knowledge of history and theory
- 1.1 Monitor relevant sources of industry information based on areas of interest, work and learning
- 1.2 Develop processes to review and maintain knowledge of history and theory relevant to own arts practice in consultation with appropriate people
2. Evaluate information
- 2.1 Evaluate information gathered from a range of sources for possible relevance to own arts practice
- 2.2 Extract and evaluate key ideas relevant to own arts practice
- 2.3 Use information in a culturally appropriate way in own arts practice
3. Apply information to own arts practice
- 3.1 Formulate own ideas on specific ways in which information may be used in own arts practice
- 3.2 Integrate ideas into the development of own arts practice
- 3.3 Discuss application of knowledge of history and theory with appropriate people and incorporate feedback and ideas as required

Assessment must ensure access to:
a range of relevant and current information services
appropriate technology to collect, download and store information.
Method of assessment
A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:
review of case studies prepared by the candidate to assess ability to review information for application to different work contexts
questioning and discussion around the candidate’s intentions and the work outcome
review of portfolios of evidence
review of third-party reports from experienced practitioners.
Assessment methods should closely reflect workplace demands (e.g. literacy) and the needs of particular groups (e.g. people with disabilities, and people who may have literacy or numeracy difficulties, such as speakers of languages other than English, remote communities and those with interrupted schooling).

Holistic assessment with other units relevant to the industry sector, workplace and job role is recommended, for example:
