This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to ensure Work, Health and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and procedures are followed, in order to ensure safety in the workplace. WHS/OHS is concerned with protecting the health and safety of all stakeholders in the workplace from exposure to hazards and risks resulting from work activities. It involves the application of WHS/OHS legislation and codes of practice, meeting regulatory obligations, identifying risks, determining strategies for control of risks and responding quickly to incidents. Competency in this unit requires the ability to identify WHS/OHS policies and procedures, contribute to WHS/OHS in the workplace, confirm WHS/OHS compliance and maintain WHS/OHS records. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator in a power generation facility.
