Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to coordinate rail safety interface agreements in accordance with rail safety legislation, regulatory and rail network requirements.It includes identifying requirements and establishing, monitoring and conducting audits of rail interface agreements.This unit refers to coordinating rail safety interface agreements between rail/rail (operations of one rail transport operator or Rail Infrastructure Manager (RIM) in relation to the operations of another) and rail/road (roads crossing rail tracks or rail crossing roads).No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Confirm regulatory and organisational requirements and responsibilities
- 1.1 Regulatory, stakeholders and rail transport operator requirements for establishing rail interface agreements are identified and assessed
- 1.2 Types of interfaces for which agreements are monitored in accordance with rail safety legislation and rail transport operator requirements
- 1.3 Interface organisation responsibilities are identified and monitored
- 1.4 Stakeholder roles and responsibilities for the interface agreement are identified and confirmed
- 1.5 Communications are established with stakeholders
2 Monitor rail safetyinterface agreements
- 2.1 Documentation is identified and used in accordance with rail safety legislation requirements
- 2.2 Safety interface agreement risk assessments are carried out in accordance with rail safety legislation requirements
- 2.3 Safety interface agreement risks and measures for implementation are monitored in accordance with rail safety legislation
- 2.4 Safety interface agreement roles and responsibilities are coordinated in accordance with regulatory requirements and rail safety legislation
- 2.5 Rail safety interface agreement is monitored in accordance with rail safety legislation
- 2.6 Register of rail safety interface agreements are checked for currency in accordance with rail safety legislation
3 Conduct rail safetyinterface agreement audits
- 3.1 Periodic rail safety interface agreement audits are conducted in accordance with rail safety legislation
- 3.2 Identified non-compliance and/or variations to rail safety interface agreement are identified and communicated to appropriate stakeholders for resolution
- 3.3 Audit reports are compiled and provided to appropriate stakeholders
