Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to respond to local emergencies and incidents
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply local emergencies and incidents documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • 1.5 Identify, establish and maintain communication systems with other personnel during the emergency
  • 1.6 Communicate and coordinate activities with others prior to, during and on completion of the work activity
  • 1.7 Locate, obtain and test emergency equipment
  • 1.8 Identify, clarify and confirm nature, scope and location of the emergency or incident
  • 1.9 Assess emergency or incident and determine appropriate course of action
  • 1.10Notify appropriate personnel of emergency or incident
2. Respond to emergency or incident situations
  • 2.1 Identify, confirm and follow emergency evacuation procedures
  • 2.2 Coordinate and control response to emergency or incident
  • 2.3 Identify risks and/or hazards and communicate with signs, signals or barriers
  • 2.4 Select and use emergency equipment
  • 2.5 Take local measures to reduce impact of emergency or incident
  • 2.6 Continually monitor and assess emergency situation and changes in circumstances
  • 2.7 Communicate requests for further assistance or evacuation to emergency personnel
  • 2.8 Control the emergency or incident situation until formal relief is notified/received
