Description
This unit describes the skills required to maintain gun ammunition to requirements as specified by Defence or the original equipment manufacturer. The unit includes the identification and selection of tools and equipment, the application of organisational safety requirements and appropriate legislative and regulatory requirements.This unit applies to those required to maintain gun ammunition to requirements as specified by Defence or the original equipment manufacturer.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Those undertaking this unit would work independently and as part of a team, under direct and/or indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their output. They would perform specific tasks in a range of contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.

1 Prepare for maintenance
  • 1.1 Identify, analyse and confirm maintenance requirements of gun ammunition
  • 1.2 Identify, acquire and confirm gun ammunition to be maintained
  • 1.3 Identify, acquire and prepare technical references, tools, equipment, consumables and packaging components
  • 1.4 Identify, calculate, assess and apply net explosive quantities and compatibility
  • 1.5 Monitor and maintain environmental conditions
