This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to monitor and coordinate waste and process water treatment in Metalliferous mining. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for waste and process water treatment
- 1.1 Access, read, interpret and apply waste and process water treatment documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- 1.3 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- 1.4 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- 1.5 Carry out routine plant inspections
- 1.6 Collect samples and conduct and analyse process tests to determine performance against plant operational requirements
- 1.7 Collect, interpret, record and report process data
- 1.8 Conduct calculations to determine process performance
2. Control chemical use
- 2.1 Use, handle and store chemicals
- 2.2 Determine, prepare and conduct chemical dosing
- 2.3 Maintain information and records for chemical supply and usage
3. Monitor and control processes
- 3.1 Monitor processes to maintain parameters of operation
- 3.2 Identify, assess and report process faults and operational condition of plant
- 3.3 Adjust integrated processes and optimise system performance
4. Compile process records
- 4.1 Compile records and reports from plant and system data
- 4.2 Ensure records are processed
