Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to supervise acid sulphate soil (ASS) remediation and management projects.This unit applies to individuals who analyse information and exercise judgement to complete a range of advanced skilled activities and demonstrate deep knowledge in a specific technical area. They have accountability for the work of others and analyse, design and communicate solutions to a range of complex problems. All work is carried out to comply with workplace procedures.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Plan implementation
  • 1.1 Review and relate plans and specifications to the works site
  • 1.2 Plan and record work sequences in line with proposed work schedule
  • 1.3 Maintain compliance with established regulatory planning and environmental legislation
2. Carry out environmental site induction
  • 2.1 Communicate specific site environmental and OHS issues to all stakeholders
  • 2.2 Describe project objectives to all stakeholders, noting individual responsibilities and duty of care
  • 2.3 Brief plant operators, contractors and other staff on special aspects of performance relating to using specific equipment and handling hazardous materials
  • 2.4 Determine monitoring requirements for the site and identify individual responsibilities as stated in the approved plan
3. Direct implementation of planned works
  • 3.1 Complete works stages
  • 3.2 Maintain works specifications and regulatory requirements
  • 3.3 Implement contingency procedures
4. Monitor works specifications and site environment
  • 4.1 Review works and site environment to ensure specifications, contracts and targets are in accordance with the approved plan
  • 4.2 Provide instructions to staff and contractors
  • 4.3 Make changes to works in consultation with the approved plan provider
