Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement a civil construction plan, including preparing the detailed civil construction plan, acquiring resources, instructing team members, monitoring performance and reviewing task outcomes. It applies to those working in management or technical specialist roles. They generally apply a broad range of technical and managerial skills and are responsible for the delivery of outputs that meet site requirements.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to implement a civil construction plan
- 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
- 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to implement civil construction plans and confirm work activity is compliant
- 1.3 Identify hazards and environmental issues associated with work, evaluate risks and apply controls
- 1.4 Confirm availability and accuracy of project information
- 1.5 Prepare the scope of work required according to job requirements
- 1.6 Identify and schedule resources required to complete task according to job requirements
2. Prepare the detailed implementation plan
- 2.1 Identify viable available options for implementation of the civil construction plan
- 2.2 Select preferred option and draft implementation plan in consultation with relevant team members, confirming best use of available resources
- 2.3 Identify contingency requirements to be allowed for in execution of the plan
- 2.4 Monitor and coordinate progress of other team members involved in the planning process
- 2.5 Identify key performance indicators to be used to monitor and assess project performance
- 2.6 Identify and clarify construction milestones required
- 2.7 Prepare cost estimate of execution in consultation with relevant team members
- 2.8 Gain approval of implementation plan
- 2.9 Document implementation plan according to site requirements
3. Initiate civil construction implementation plans
- 3.1 Acquire and make available required resources according to job requirements
- 3.2 Issue instructions to team members and others involved
4. Monitor, adjust and report on the implementation of civil construction plan
- 4.1 Monitor civil construction implementation plan performance and confirm it achieves required outcomes according to job requirements
- 4.2 Initiate adjustments to achieve required outcomes
- 4.3 Provide ongoing clarification and advice to those applying the plan
