Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for bulk product packaging and storage
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply product packaging and storage documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear correct personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • 1.5 Communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
  • 1.6 Select, and check for faults, tools/equipment for work activities
  • 1.7 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
  • 1.8 Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
  • 1.9 Ensure work area is well ventilated before entry
  • 1.10 Prepare site for positioning of mobile packaging equipment
  • 1.11 Position and stabilise mobile equipment
  • 1.12 Check condition of packaging meets work requirements
2. Start-up equipment in sequence
  • 2.1 Carry out start-up procedures and complete start-up checks
  • 2.2 Confirm plant is operational within specifications
3. Package product
  • 3.1 Read and interpret equipment indicators and monitor packaging efficiency
  • 3.2 Continuously inspect plant and identify operational defects and potential problems
  • 3.3 Adjust equipment to optimise performance
  • 3.4 Control feed to packaging unit
  • 3.5 Take samples of product
  • 3.6 Seal, label package and secure for transport
  • 3.7 Prevent unauthorised entry to personnel and maintain security of packaging area
  • 3.8 Complete all required documentation
  • 3.9 Complete written reports and records
4. Store product
  • 4.1 Store product in an approved location and secure environment
  • 4.2 Position and brace packaged product according to transport requirements
5. Conduct housekeeping activities
  • 5.1 Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials
  • 5.2 Clean and maintain condition of equipment, ensure suitability for use, and address/report issues
  • 5.3 Manage/report hazards, and maintain a safe working environment
  • 5.4 Process written records
6. Shutdown in sequence and/or isolate equipment
  • 6.1 Perform post shutdown/isolation checks
  • 6.2 Complete equipment shutdown/isolation
