This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to provide support to electrical tradesperson in the Coal mining.This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.No licensing, legislation or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for support to electrical tradesperson
- 1.1 Access, interpret and apply documentation to support an electrical tradesperson and ensure the work activity is compliant
- 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- 1.5 Obtain and apply safety information and procedures throughout the work
- 1.6 Analyse work requirement and complete planning/organising
- 1.7 Identify and select required parts/stores
- 1.8 Pack, load and transport parts/stores and equipment to worksite
2. Support electrical tradesperson
- 2.1 Communicate and coordinate activities with others throughout the work activity
- 2.2 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- 2.3 Conduct support tasks in accordance with the tradesperson’s directions
3. Apply emergency procedures
- 3.1 Apply emergency isolation and shut-down procedures
- 3.2 Follow emergency notification procedures
- 3.3 Apply emergency first-aid
- 3.4 Provide site emergency information/reports to appropriate authorities
