This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare products, materials, and design documentation for compliance testing in industry-recognised testing facilities against relevant Australian Standards. The unit involves accessing, recording, and acting on a defined range of information relating to compliance testing. It includes ensuring that the item to be tested is selected and packaged for testing according to Australian Standard requirements, and that testing outcomes are communicated and recorded in line with workplace procedures.The unit applies to any individual working in an organisation that seeks to test the products and materials it manufactures, and their designs, to ensure they comply with mandatory safety and quality standards. The unit does not cover the testing of the item. The testing is undertaken by an independent, specialist testing body or agency.
