This unit describes skills and knowledge required to extend expertise across new art forms and media using exploration and integration. It involves exploring the potential of different new art forms and media, experimenting with new materials and techniques to extend skills and conceptualising new approaches to different creative works. The unit applies to those who work as creative practitioners using experimentation and refinement to explore new ways of creating work. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Explore the professional potential of different art forms and media
  • 1.1 Evaluate ways in which the use of different art forms or media may enhance current practice
  • 1.2 Explore and analyse different connections and associations as sources of new ideas
  • 1.3 Select new art forms or media to explore in own practice
  • 1.4Research historical, cultural, political or sociological contexts within the visual arts practice.
2. Explore and extend new skills with materials, processes and techniques
