The unit covers reviewing site, organisational and legal compliance requirements to develop safety plans which identify specific site areas including evacuation, access and restricted areas, first aid and emergency facility locations, and waste types and locations. The unit also covers developing safety and emergency procedures which are designed to ensure the safety of people, equipment, structures and the environment. The unit requires consultation and communication with relevant personnel to ensure understanding of site safety requirements, and to incorporate feedback into the plan.
