negotiation skills, particularly in relation to balancing different aspects of a team project
problem solving and dispute resolution skills in relation to collaborative project planning and implementation

Critical aspects of evidence

The following evidence is critical to the judgement of competence in this unit:

productive and effective interaction with members of the team, including communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
the ability to put forward a point of view in an accepting and non-judgemental manner

Method and context of assessment

The assessment context must provide for:

practical demonstration of skills through proactive collaboration on a project which demands a range of expertise
involvement of and interaction with a team to realise the project
activities conducted over a period of time to reflect the ongoing nature of skills in this unit

Assessment may incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of essential underpinning knowledge, and might include:

evaluation of a project diary prepared by the candidate detailing processes used to realise a team project
oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of the key issues to ensure effective collaboration on a group project
review of portfolios of evidence and third party workplace reports of on-the-job performance by the candidate
Assessment methods should closely reflect workplace demands and the needs of particular groups (eg people with disabilities, and people who may have literacy or numeracy difficulties such as speakers of languages other than English, remote communities and those with interrupted schooling).
