To provide the learner with technical training equivalent to the first year of
the of-the-job segment of one of the following apprenticeship courses:

To enhance skill development in all aspects of the trade enabling the learner

1 Students are required to successfully complete ALL modules in the Core
- Basic Industry Skills and Basic Stream Skills.

In addition to these modules, students will choose a trade stream of study from
Groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and will be required to complete the set modules for
that trade, ie.

Group 1 - Carpentry and Joinery.

Students must complete module numbers 29443, 29446, 29511 and both of the
supplementary practical skills units.

2 The hours allocated to the module numbers 98002 and 98003 will be
different for each trade and will be delivered as follows:

- Carpentry and Joinery - 145 hours each module
- Bricklaying - 128 hours each module
- Painting & Decorating - 92 hours each module
- Plastering - 68 hours each module.

3 Learners completing the tile laying stream will complete the Work
Practice Skills 1 & 2 as stated.
