Description
The Certificate I in New Opportunities for Women (NOW) is a general education program aimed at providing women with the knowledge, skills and support to make the transition into further vocational education and training.
The aims of the qualification are:
- To increase the confidence of women seeking to return to employment, education and training
- To broaden the awareness of the personal, educational and vocational options of women beyond traditional notions of what is appropriate for women
- To increase awareness of issues affecting the lives and choices of women
- To equip them with strategies and communication skills to deal with these issues
- To provide women with technical, mathematical and employability skills that will enhance their employment and vocational options
Educational outcomes including:
- Development of basic computing skills
- Development of study skills
- Development of career goals and strategies
- Development of communication, teamwork and numeracy skills
- Development of self-esteem and personal management skills
- Development of skills to manage change, growth and transition
- Locating and accessing job, training and career information
Schedule
The choice of electives should reflect the needs and aspirations of the learner and support pathways to further learning or employment.
Learners who are unable to complete the full course requirements will be awarded a statement of attainment for completed units.
