State Implementation and Classification
Description
This qualification develops advanced skills and knowledge in the design and drafting of engineering plans to recognised standards. Students will learn about different areas of civil engineering, including construction, project management, design and testing. Students will learn about the design and drafting of reinforced concrete structures, steelwork structures, road networks, pipe networks, stormwater
drainage and foundations.
Schedule
The requirements for granting this qualification will be met when competency is demonstrated and achieved for:
1. All the Core Competency Standard Units, defined in the Core Competency Standard Units table below for Stage 1, 2, 3 & 4; and
2. For Stage 1: Completion of the elective unit listed in Group A;
3. For Stage 1: The RTO will need to choose to deliver one of the elective units listed in Group B. No other unit substitutes are allowed for this group, the RTO must pick one from the units listed;
4. For Stage 2: The RTO will need to choose to deliver one of the elective units listed in Group C. No other unit substitutes are allowed for this group, the RTO must pick one from the units listed;
5. For Stage 2: Completion of the elective units listed in Group D.
6. For Stage 3: Completion of the elective unit listed in Group E.
NOTE 1: Group A, D, & E electives may be substituted with a unit from elective group F or any other endorsed training package or accredited course at an AQF level 4 or above. Elective units chosen must be relevant to the work and industry context for Civil and Structural Engineering.
NOTE 2: Students may exit after Stage 2 with the Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering.
NOTE 3: For students wishing to proceed to university after the completion of the Advanced Diploma, completion of the electives listed in Group F should also be considered.
