State Implementation and Classification
Description
The traineeship course will provide quality training for persons who are employed in, or
seek to be employed in the Mining industry. The areas of training are based on
key competencies, extended to essential basic mine related activities and
proceed to allow for specialisation into specific areas.
It will provide:

specific skills and knowledge as specified by the Acts and Regulations
pertaining to the working of the mine

specific skills and knowledge in safe workplace procedures and
practices

specific skills and knowledge pertaining to mine related activities.
Vocational Outcomes
This course provides the skills and knowledge required for employment at a
basic operative level in specific areas of the mining industry. There is no
link identified between the level of the training program and industrial award
classifications.

1. CORE
(Compulsory 137 nominal hours) Due to the combination of on and off-the-job training for traineeship programs, the learner hours indicated below for NCS001 Workplace Communications has been reduced to 17 hours for this traineeship, to enable a total of 410 hours off-the-job training. It is essential that providers refer to the actual traineeship agreement/package to determine the actual hours allocated for the off-the-job component for each module.

2. Due to the combination of on and off-the-job training for traineeship
programs, the learner hours indicated above have been modified in some modules
to provide a total of 410 hours off-the-job training. The Training Plan for
this program indicates the actual hours allocated for each module.
Through the RPL process trainees may apply for credits in any accredited course
in which they enrol.
QUALITY CONTROL
Quality Assurance
These courses will be delivered in the TAFE college being registered. Care
will be taken to address the sensitive industrial issues regarding
workplacement for the work experience component of the courses. Quality
Assurance processes will be used to substantiate the student assessments and
quality of training.
The site will participate in the review of modules as they are completed and of
the whole course on completion of the programs, as required by the national
policy for new courses. Regular meetings will take place with lecturers and
the industrial partners to ensure quality control.
TAFE students are automatically supplied with a record of their results at the
end of each program or semester, and the records department of each college can
supply details from the student data base for a minimum of five years after
course completion.
