Description

To provide the plumbing industry with potential employees who have been trained
to a high degree of proficiency within that trade.

To ensure graduates are more employable by providing them with up to 75% of
their educational basic trade training prior to entering the work force.

To reduce the gap between the skills and competencies required by industry and
those aspects taught in a training environment by providing realistic and
well-directed work experience.

COURSE OPERATION

The training consists of 26 weeks in college formed of
two seven-week blocks and two six-week blocks and 15
weeks in industry formed of three five-week blocks.

These training periods alternate as shown below:

ACCREDITATION

On successful completion of the course the student will be
accredited with approximately 75 modules from the Plumbing and Gasfitting
Apprentice Course (equivalent of 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B of the apprentice course).
The remaining modules shall be completed within their first two years of
indenture.

CERTIFICATE OF PRE-APPRENTICE STUDIES

The student shall be awarded a Certificate of Pre-Apprenticeship Studies on
successful completion of the course.
